Shun Sayama (狭山 旬, Sayama Shun) is the former classmate of Hikari Sakishima who help built the statue for the Ofunehiki. After the time skip, he is working as the young master of Saya Mart and he also helps with the last Ofunehiki. He is one of the only gay characters in the series and sadly has a crush on his old friend who is already married. He will most likely be alone for the rest of his life but has become closer to Hikari, Manaka, Chisaki, Kaname, Tsumugu, Miuna and Sayu.

Appearance[]

Shun has shortish brown hair that pretty much sticks up everywhere, but that's what gives him his special look and he has light brown eyes.

Before the Timeskip[]

Shun is usually shown wearing his Mihama Middle School uniform.

After the Timeskip[]

Shun is shown wearing a purple shirt over a black long-sleeve, an apron, from where he works, casual pants, and purple and white shoes.

Personality[]

Before the time-skip, Shun was quite obnoxious, yet a great friend and can be serious at times. Hikari Sakishima gets mad at Shun and his friend, Takeshi Egawa, but soon befriends them. Even later, Shun can be a bit childish at times, but he can come through, as a good friend would. When he sees Hikari again, he gets overjoyed and that's when he makes his first appearance after the time-skip.

Relationships[]

Takeshi Egawa[]

Takeshi, it appears, is Shun's best friend and crush. In the first few episodes, it shows him that he's always with Takeshi but his emotions towards him is never clearly revealed.

Hikari Sakishima[]

Shun befriends Hikari when both the sea kids go to Mihama Middle School but his crush on Takeshi remained.

Akari Sakishima[]

Akari works with Shun at the Saya Mart.

Akira Shiodome[]

Akari's son seems to enjoy playing with Shun, as Shun does with Akira.

Etymology[]

  • The name Shun means "season, ten-day period" (旬).
  • Shun's surname Sayama means "narrow" (狭) (sa) and "mountain, hill" (山) (yama).
